The best runs....
...are those that you share with friends.
Yesterday evening, Steph and I went on a long run. We didn't leave my place until 7:30 or 7:45, and we got back close to 9 pm! As you east coasters know, it gets dark around 8 pm so for the last half of our run we were in the dark.
"Gosh it's dark!"
"Should we get on the sidewalk or something?"
"Next time I'll wear my light-up hat!"
We safely made it back to my place and I will do my best to recap our stats:
1. My Garmin was taking a while to "warm up" so I didn't actually start it until we had been running 10 minutes or so. I also stopped it when we took a walk break, so although my Garmin says 47 minutes and 41 seconds, we were gone 1 hour+.
2. Our distance (according to the Garmin) was 4.67 miles - which does not include our first 10 minutes or our walk break...so we probably completed around 5.5 miles.
Whatever our time was, and whatever our distance was, we maintained a steady pace AND steady conversation so it was a success.
We were tired afterwards though and needed water STAT:
But we were happy with how long we'd been out:
I wasn't extremely hungry, but I knew I had to eat something so I settled on a Green Monster. I busted out my foam roller and rolled out my hips, thighs, and hamstrings, and then propped up my legs for a bit!
Do you have a post-run or post-workout routine that you try to follow?
Wow, you guys had a great run! :)
