With the Bourbon Chase being just 2.5 weeks away, running is on my mind all the time! I wanted to do a 5k before the BC and I'm signed up for one this Saturday! Last October I did a 5k for FEAT = Families for Effective Autism Treatment and I'm doing it again this year. You can read the race recap here, but if you don't want to, here were my stats:
3.12 miles (course was slightly long or else I started my Garmin too early or stopped it too late)
26:21 finish
Average pace: 8:28
Lap 1: 8:49
Lap 2: 8:43
Lap 3: 8:03
Wow. I was in good shape last fall! I read those stats this morning and immediately felt the pressure to turn on the heat. My target pace for the Bourbon Chase is a 9:30 mile so that is what I will aim for in the 5k. If I can finish around 28:30 I will be pleased.
I think my runs for the past several months haven't been that great. They've been all right and I can't truly complain, but they haven't been my best. I've been leaving my Garmin at home a lot because I know it will say that I'm running slowly. Come to think of it, I don't think I've done a race since the Springtime! However, with my new shoes (which I still love) I think I'll get back some of that running confidence. Last night I ran 3.5 and I felt pretty strong! Getting up the hills in Cherokee Park wasn't difficult and I probably could have run more. One thing I need is a running buddy! Group runs are so effective for motivation and training and I haven't run with another person in forever. Wanted: a running partner for once a week! Anyone interested?
Any other Louisville people running the FEAT 5k on Saturday morning? It's at Westport Village at 8:30 am.
I am much slower than you otherwise we could maybe run together. I definitely run better with someone else but I am closer to a 10-10:30 min/mile with plenty of walking breaks. I would really slow you down!
ReplyDeleteI'm not running another race til the Big Hit Half (that I know of). Unless my Dad puts down the cash on registration fees, the hubby won't let me. I'd easily spend $100's of dollars on race fees!
I meant to tell you, my team name is A Shot For Every Season! We start Friday at 12! Hope to see you there! Post on my blog what your team name is! I'm hoping to average 9:30's too! We'll see!
